To defeat time is one of the painter's key motivators.

The three realistic paintings of the series Air Corridors make the attempt to make the atmosphere of West Berlin during the cold war that disappeared with the reunion perceptible to the beholder.

Obviously since West Berlin was surrounded by its iconic wall entering or leaving the city by land was not straight forward. To many it is less well known that the air above the city had walls, too. The airspace was a control zone, and when passing the territory of the German Democratic Republic aircraft were lead through three narrow air corridors.

The series Air Corridors connects with the 2021 theme “Air” of the 48 h Neukölln art festival in three different ways; through the air that we breathe, the air that carries us and the air that can make us feel free or not.
